Rajasthani cities are famous for their colour orientation. Headquarter city jaipur is known as 'pink city' as most of the houses are coloured as pink. While udaipur city is called white city for the same reason. Similarly, jodhpur is called blue city and bikaner is called red city.

Rajastan has a large arid desert called the great indian desert or thar desert. Thar desert covers the area of about 200,000 km square with being the 17th largest in the world. It is a natural border between india and pakistan. The Deseret contains nature reserves, wildlife centres,annual festivals etc.

Rajasthan consists of some of the beautiful as well as resourceful lakes. Sambhar lake in rajasthan is the largest salt water lake of india. Some beautiful lakes are shakambari jeel, lake pichola, dhebar lake, pushkar lake, gadisar lake.


Architecture

Rajasthani architecture is mainly based on rajput cast theme. Ancient rajput rulers contributed immensly in the development of architecture. Some excellent examples of rajasthani architecture are hawa mahal, umaid bhawan palace, remains of bairat stupa, ranakpur jain temple, lalgarh palace, etc.
