Darjeeling is a town as well as a hill station in west bengal province of India. Locating in the himalayan foothills, It is known for its beautiful weather and eye catching mountain and valley views. Darjeeling is often fondly called "queen of the hills ". The city is located at an elevation of 2000 metres. Tea industry has made a notable progress here. Darjeeling city is the headquarters of darjeeling district. It emerged as one of the most popular tourist destinations in india. The true magic of nature can be seen here. Here, the temperature can go down to -2 degree Celsius. It very rarely snowfalls in darjeeling. The cold weather here creates a romantic atmosphere.  This city is included in UNESCO world heritage site also.

Climate

The average temperature here during monsoon ranges between 13 degree Celsius to 19 degree Celsius.  Starting july till august, heavy rainfall is observed here. Winters in darjeeling begin from December starting and lasts till february ending. During winters, the average night temperature falls to 2 degree celsius.

By Air 

Bagdodara is the nearest airport connected to delhi, kolkata and guwahati.  You can get there from bus or taxi in 3 hours. 

By Train

New jalpaiguri is the nearest railway station. Direct trains from delhi run several times a day. 

By Road

The distance from the city of kolkata is about 651 km, 100 km from gangtok city.
