Kutch : The Salt Desert Of India

          Whenever we hear the word desert, we think of a place full of orange sand and hot winds. We all are familiar with the deadly temperature records of deserts in africa and middle east. But not all deserts are of this kind. In today's post you will know about a  destination which is not less than a nature wonder. This place is KUTCH white desert in india. 

Kutch is a district in the gujarat region of india. Kutch or kachchh is famous for its salt desert ! This desert is not covered with sand but covered by salt ! 

 The white desert is located in the northern part of kutch. Numerous tourists visit kutch every year for its beautiful desert.Years ago, this desert was formed by some natural process of arabian sea. Kutch district is also famous for ancient ruins of dholaveera village. 

Location

This is the map of india. The highlighted region is kutch. It is district located on the western side of india. Kutch is a combination of desert, mountains and sea. Many years ago, kutch was only a part of sea. But as the time passed, only the land was left. During summers, here the heat reaches at the top. While in winter, bone freezing cold is experienced.

This desert is not less than any natural wonder. Every year, Rann utsav is celebrated here in winters in which numerous tourists visit the salt desert. Also, kutch desert is a very good destination for photoshoot. Many bollywood (indian film industry)  movies are shot here.

Kutch also has some other famous tourist sites. Dholaveera village has ancient ruins of harappan civilisation which is about 5000 years old. The first ever billboard was discovered here.
