When you hear 'India', what comes to your mind first ? You might think about a culture oriented country or a country with lots of festivals. Is India very dirty ? How rich is India ? Mostly, people know india for its cultures, traditions, festivals, etc. Some people don't know much about India or some have wrong myths about India. This  post is about 6 common myths regarding India that should be busted from the minds of people. 


Myth #1 : India is very poor

People who do not know much about India believe that it is a super poor country.  Even though it is a developing nation but many poor people exist in the country. Well, it is just the one side of the coin. According to a report of New world wealth, India is ranked 6th in the list of wealthiest countries of the world. In fact, 119 billionaires reside in India.

India is the second most populated country in the world. Some people have this myth regarding India that almost all Indians are illiterate. This is not the fact. India has  a literacy rate of about 75 %. Indian people have a high respect for education and degrees. Kerala is the highest literate state of the country with about 93 % literacy. 


Myth #3 : India is too hot

 This is a popular myth. India has a diversified climate across the country. Although, southern and western regions are hot. If we give a look at northern India, we will find that the northern part is cold and snowy as well as beautiful. ' Kashmir ' province of India is called as ' Heaven on earth'. Himalayan mountain range extends from north to north east India which consists of sky touching and extremely cold mountains. 

Myth #4 : Only Hindus live in India 



Majority of India is Hindu but other religions like Islam, Christianity, Buddhism also exist in India. The country is known for its unity. India is a secular and democratic country. People have freedom to choose their religion independently. 



Myth #5 : Hindi is the official language of the country


A common misconception. Hindi is not the only official language, it is one of the 24 official languages of India. Yes, India consists of 24 such languages like Gujarati, Bengali, Marathi, Sanskrit etc. Various languages are spoken across the different regions of the country.  


Myth #6 : India is all about Taj Mahal 



Taj mahal is a ancient monument in India which is considered in 7 wonders of the world. This historical monument is located in Agra city of India. Taj mahal is visited by millions of tourists every year. But people limit the Indian beauty to Taj mahal. India is not just about this. Northern India is blessed with stunning cold hill stations. Other historical monuments like Qutub minar, Rani ki vav, humayun tomb, etc. also have well designed architecture. South India has lots of Hindu religion temples. And the greenery of North east can not be ignored.
